Lets Have Reasoned & Constructive Debate
Brexit has been something which has split friends and families, but somehow we need to come together for the common good.
People give their lives to have democracy in their country. That can only work well when debate and differences of opinion can be expressed without the fear of hostility, intimidation and threats.
Let’s try to be respectful and consider the views of others, maybe they are right? And if they are not, hurling insults isn’t going to help. Maybe reasoned explanations and referrals to independent fact-checking sites like fullfact.org may persuade them. Otherwise agree to disagree.
We all think of loyalty as a good quality, but it can also create inflexibilty and intransigence in the face of alternative ideas which have their merits, whilst people you feel you should be loyal to no longer deserve to be supported.
This is demonstrated by the situation in USA where there is compelling evidence of Donald Trump’s corruption, yet people from his own party feel the need to support him out of ‘loyalty for the party’.
