Venue: The Riverhouse Arts Centre,
Walton-on-Thames

Lecture Start Time: 7.30pm
From the towering cliffs and surf of the north coast to the pretty coves and harbours in the south, this talk makes an epicurean journey through England’s most westerly county. There’s the award winning vineyard in the Camel valley and the Tregothnan estate, the only place in England to grow tea commercially.
Take delight in the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan where the productive gardens are still worked in a time-honoured way, see how pasties are made on the Lizard and finally visit the fishing village of Portloe for a cream tea. There’s lots of history along the way.
Keith Holmes is a speaker and photographer based in Derbyshire who presents a series of talks on England and Italy to societies throughout England
About The Royson Pike Lecture Series
Edgar Royston Pike, formerly Chairman of the Esher Council, introduced the ‘Esher Library Lectures’ in the late sixties. In 1974, Elmbridge Borough Council changed the title of these lectures to the ‘Royston Pike Lectures’ in appreciation of his 20 years’ work on the Library Committee.
Now in their 42nd year the Royston Pike Lecture Series continues to attract audiences with its eclectic mix of subjects and speakers and the current series hopes to continue on the legacy set by its founder. This season will see the lectures held in several new Elmbridge venues as well as some old familiar ones.
