Information for Patients Following Weybridge NHS Health Centre Fire
Surrey Police Statement: Residents can return home and roads re-opened following Weybridge fire
Roads around the hospital, including Church Road and High Street have been closed throughout the day, but are now re-opened.
Residents are advised to continue to keep their windows closed as smoke is likely to still be in the air this evening.
The roads remained closed throughout rush hour this afternoon to allow emergency service vehicles the space to safely manoeuvre without traffic passing by.
We’d like to thank everyone for their patience throughout today while our colleagues at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have worked hard to tackle the blaze and partner agencies have coordinated their response.
We will continue to support SFRS’s investigation into the fire, the cause of which has not yet been established.

Dramatic Videos Of Blaze
Weybridge residents have been shocked by the sad news that Weybridge Hospital, the NHS Walk-In Centre and the two GP Surgeries in the Health Centre have been destroyed by a massive fire.
Local residents were evacuated as a massive blaze lit the skies of Weybridge, due to a fire at the Health Cente in Church Street. There were reports of loud explosions as the fire took hold, just after midnight (morning of July 12th).
We have been informed that nobody has been hurt, but there is concern about the massive disruption and loss of vital health services. The town centre has been closed between Heath Road and Baker Street as Emergency Services attend to the fire, which was still bellowing smoke mid-morning.
Residents took refuge at St James’ Parish Church, where locals rallyied to help those displaced. There had been a major impact on traffic due to the road closure. St Charles Borromeo School was closed for the day, but has been re-opened on Thursday.
Surrey Police asked people to avoid the area around Church Street.
At its peak, the fire was attended by 8 pumps from the fire brigade, together with 2 aerial ladder platforms and 3 water carrriers. Water was being taken from 4 nearby roads.
Surrey Search & Rescue also attended to fly drones in support of the Fire & Rescue teams.
The video of the fire (on the right /below) was kindly provided by Elmbridge Cllr Andrew Davis, who tweeted:
“The explosions drove our cat under our bed. I hope the firefighters are safe..”
“The whole hospital is now in flames and the top floor has gone. The firefighters are drawing water from four streets.”
